TINASOL FIELD NOTES / FREE GUIDE
Before you build your podcast studio.
Five considerations for a more confident start.
The room
Listen before you buy. Note traffic, fans, hard reflective surfaces and other sources of noise. Think about the quietest recording time and whether acoustic treatment is needed.
The recording format
Decide how many people will speak, whether guests will join remotely and whether you need video. The format determines microphone count, monitoring and camera requirements.
The complete signal chain
Plan microphones, stands, an interface or mixer, headphones, recording software and cables as one system. Check compatibility and include a backup recording method.
The production workflow
Allow space for camera framing and lighting if you are filming. Decide who handles recording, editing, storage and publication. Test a short session before recording a full episode.
The budget and support
Account for installation, acoustic work, accessories, training and future maintenance, not just the main equipment. Ask for a quote with a clear scope and discuss how support will work.
